New Zealand opportunities
New Zealand’s thriving bioenergy sector, like many Kiwi industries, has been driven by innovation – developing and adapting equipment and processes to suit local conditions and deliver maximum benefit from our bioenergy resources to their businesses and those of their customers. Similarly the Australian market has been growing from the wide range of opportunities available.
From fuel and energy suppliers, to equipment suppliers, manufacturers, consultants, contractors and skilled energy researchers, the New Zealand and Australian bionergy expertise is among the best in the world – and now the world wants our expertise, as demand grows for sustainable and cost-effective alternatives to fossil fuels.
Our bioenergy experts are collaborating with each other and with the international sector to deliver world-class solutions to customers both in New Zealand, Australia and overseas. Bioenergy Association members are based in the New Zealand and Australian markets and leverage this into other countries, in particular South East Asia.
New Zealand is well advanced in terms of the use of wood harvesting and processing residues for the production of heat; the processing of solid and liquid municipal and trade waste to make biogas for electricity generation and use as a vehicle fuel; the production of ethanol from whey and biodiesel from used cooking oil and tallow.
