Bioenergy Scholarship Results
BANZ is pleased to announce the results of the BANZ Bioenergy Scholarship for 2012.
| Markus Benter-Lynch, MWH – A study of international best practice (US and Europe) in wood fuel handling and preparation, specifically for co-firing wood fuel with coal (and converting coal boilers to wood fuel completely). This knowledge would then be brought back to NZ to share with the NZ industry. (MWH http://www.mwhglobal.com/).

Markus Benter-Lynch, MWH - A study of international best practice (US and Europe) in wood fuel handling and preparation for co-firing wood fuel with coal (and converting coal boilers to wood fuel completely). This knowledge would then be brought back to NZ
to share with the NZ industry. (MWH http://www.mwhglobal.com/) .
The successful bid involves the study international best practice in co-firing wood fuel with coal. The findings will be disseminated through the various communication channels available through BANZ and its supporters and also through MWH its nationwide reach through 16 offices and about 650 staff.
Co-firing could be an ideal pathway to significantly increase the use of wood fuel in NZ. As a result of using wood fuel for co-firing in a range of boilers in NZ, the wood fuel supply chain in NZ, currently one of the biggest hurdles to greater use of wood fuel, will mature and the awareness of wood fuel as a viable alternative to coal
will then lead to greater use of wood fuel fired boilers(i.e. the new installation of boilers using wood fuel only).
Further details are available on request from the Executive Officer the final report will be made available to the wider bioenergy industry in new Zealand. It is expected that the result from the exercise will be available in 2013.
