Information Sheet 40: Wood energy in New Zealand

The New Zealand market for heat from the combustion of wood started when Maori first arrived and has continued ever since. Throughout that period it has changed its form but not its role heating air, water or solid objects.  Today 40% of New Zealand’s energy is in the form of heat.
