Kiwi Waste & Recycling Ltd
Kiwi Waste and Recycling Ltd was setup in Auckland in 2019 and we operate transfer stations across the Auckland region. We receive all solid waste types, but we handle particularly large volumes of construction and demolition waste.
We are committed to diverting all recyclable waste streams, but are struggling to find a solution for separated treated timber. We generate around 2000 ton of waste timber per month, of which 100% currently goes to landfill.
If we can find a market for our treated timber waste stream, then a full Materials Recycling Facility {MRF} becomes viable across our entire operation. We would then be able to separate all the main recyclable materials from landfill, potentially running with a 75% diversion rate across all our incoming materials. Our fully recycled waste streams would be:
- cardboard
- ferrous metal
- plasterboard
- timber, and
- concrete/stone
Until we can find an end use for our separated timber, the MRF project just isn’t viable.
We are in the planning process for a third Auckland Transfer Station so our tonnages will increase by another 50%. This means finding an end market for treated timber becomes increasingly important, so we are able to make a meaningful difference in diverting waste from landfill.
