"Why New Zealand needs an Integrated Bioenergy Programme - before the next storm.  How many more storms will it take before we stop rebuilding the same roads, farms and communities, only to see them damaged again in the next flood? Each major weather event brings familiar scenes of buried farmland, blocked rivers and damaged infrastructure. The response is equally familiar: clean up, reinstate, repeat. Yet the cost of this cycle to communities, insurers and taxpayers far outweighs the cost of acting early to reduce the damage in the first place...."
