Opportunies

The bioenergy opportunities in Australia from the processing of solid and liquid municipal and trade waste for electricity generation and use as a vehicle fuel are well advanced in the major cities but significant opportunities exist in smaller communities.

The use of wood harvesting and processing residues for the production of heat are not as advanced as in New Zealand because of the availability of gas. Liquid biofuels production from sugar cane and other crops is very attractive and Queensland is likely to be the source of liquid biofuels for Australasia.
