Webinar: Keeping up with the Best
The Bioenergy Association invites anyone interested in how residual waste to energy can contribute to a circular bioeconomy to attend this webinar.
About the webinar
To keep up with the best, we have to follow Europe by recycling and composting at least 65% waste while reducing landfilling to less than 10%. Whilst we are moving towards a Circular Economy, we need WtE as a cleaning step for wastes which are too polluted or too tricky to mechanically separate, such as multi-composite materials.
At the same time, we have to introduce further drivers for more extensive material recycling and anaerobic digestion and composting of organics.
Overall, it is realistic that only about 1% of waste still goes to landfill, as is the case in the best-performing countries in Europe. We have to channel our energy into the possible and avoid getting caught up in the rhetoric of the impossible. I believe we can achieve near-zero waste to landfill by adopting ambitious goals and practice from overseas!
