Occasional Paper 02: New Zealand bioenergy strategy

Occasional Paper 02: New Zealand bioenergy strategy - This strategy aims to achieve economic growth and employment and realise greater value from New Zealand’s existing forestry resource and new energy crops by providing impetus to the growing bio-economy. It aims to lift the national growth in bioenergy use by 2040 to 25% of consumer energy - substantially above its current 8.5% - with attendant economic, social and environmental benefits. In energy terms, the largest demand by 2040 is for transport fuels, with the most strategically important being diesel (for farming, transport, construction and fishing) and jet fuel.
